Hi there SLO Tango dancers!



Scheduling instructional events for the Otero weekend (Friday, May 18-Monday May 21) is in progress! Definitely plan to take some worthwhile all-level group classes on both Saturday and Sunday. Workshops will likely be scheduled from noon-3pm on both days. As usual, there will be a progressive fee for workshops, and dancers can decide day to day which classes they want to take. A detailed outline of the weekend’s instructional events and prices will soon be available on slotango.org.



If you are interested in scheduling an individual private, please contact me (the sooner the better). These privates are for those individuals or couples who wish to have some personalized instruction and are $80 per hour. Any dancer who is interested in a private but overwhelmed by the cost of a full hour, I am fairly certain that one can schedule a half-hour private. Scheduled privates will be Saturday and Sunday mornings in Los Osos or Monday morning and afternoon in San Luis (or at the home of the dancer requesting the private, if that is preferable and possible).



It looks as though semi-privates will be held from 3:30-5:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Because this form of group instruction is limited to 8 (partnered) dancers and has a set fee of $160/hr, a guaranteed commitment (to both show up and pay) is absolutely required from each participant. Please contact me ASAP to confirm your spot and, if necessary, be partnered. A specialty Otero topic that sounds very promising is "circular movements" (molinetes, enrosques, planeos, finding the energy of turning, technique and balance in both close and open embrace). Also, the Otero couple is willing to teach a semi-private on gracefully and effectively connecting advanced movements. Of course, if these topics do not sound exciting and interesting, instructors are open to having the group determine the topics for instruction. They are pleased to and can accommodate interests in any of the 3 styles: Milonguero, Salon, or Tango Nuevo.
