[I think Chris Ellwood, wrote this announcement that went out to the  
Tango Santa Barbara email list a couple days ago.  I thought it would  
be good to pass it on to our community.  Personally, I see Argentine  
Tango as a purely social dance and inherently non-competitive, but...]

Argentine Tango is one of the competitive events that is offered.  I
think it would be great to have the Argentine Tango community well
represented at this competition.  Happy Dancing!

The Cal Poly DanceSport Team is pleased to announce our inaugural
Mustang Ball DanceSport Competition, to be held on Saturday, February
10th, 2007 in the Chumash Auditorium in Cal Poly's University Union.
Cal Poly is located in San Luis Obispo, which is ideally situated on
California's beautiful central coast. Our central location makes this
an attractive competition for both Northern and Southern California
teams and individuals to attend and compete at a great venue.

Our competition will feature events in International Standard and
Latin, American Smooth and Rhythm, and Nightclub dances (West Coast
Swing, Salsa, Merengue, Argentine Tango, Nightclub Two-step, Lindy Hop
and Hustle).  We will also have a formation team competition,
performances, a team match, and other fun events throughout the day.
Finally, we will end our competition with an exciting four dance
smooth Showcase by professional ballroom dance competitors Porfirio
Landeros and Laetitia Santore.

Early registration ($15 student/$20 non-student) is now open and
closes on January 13th, 2007. Regular registration ($20 student/$25
non-student) closes on January 27, 2007.  Spectator admission is free!
