SLO Tango -- All request Los Osos Milonga

SLO Tango dancers vary greatly in their musical tastes, ranging from
classical to alternative Tango music. In light of this, I have been
running the Los Osos Milongas as follows:
Once a month, I DJ the program. The first two hours are all classical
music, followed by a mix of nuevo, alternative, and classical music.
Once a month, another member of our Tango community DJs the Milonga
and a few of our programs have been heavily loaded with nuevo/
alternative music.
To increase this form of community participation, I would like to
suggest the following:
1. If you are interested in being a DJ for one of our Milongas,
please let me know (I can provide you with cortinas).
2. In Los Angeles , they have set up a Mobile Milonga to help unite
their Tango community. Their programs are based on favorite songs
submitted by members of the community. This sounds like an
interesting idea and I would like to try an all request Milonga in
Los Osos. Hopefully, this will provide a vehicle for people who do
not want to Dj, to get some of their favorite songs played. If you
would like to participate, please provide me your favorite songs on
an audio CD (include name and orchestra to facilitate organizing the
program). When I have collected enough songs, we will have an all
request Milonga.
I welcome any feedback about this proposal.
Hope to see you this Saturday, May 26 for our Piropos Milonga. Val
will DJ.
Norm
